Ben runs ZAK Sound, a company focused on instruments and effects designed for ambient and cinematic music production. His primary product is Raizes Player, a plugin that lets musicians and producers purchase and manage virtual instruments within a single interface. The market he serves is straightforward: musicians and producers who need creative instruments for their work.
"Moonbase is the perfect platform for audio software. It saves a lot of time by handling everything you need to scale your brand."
The previous setup
Before Moonbase, Ben managed his sales through a combination of FastSpring and WooCommerce. He built custom webhooks that would create orders in WooCommerce when FastSpring processed a sale. "It was okay, but it was hard to integrate things like affiliates, redeem codes, and serials. Managing everything separately was a real hassle and took time away from what I actually needed to do: create instruments and effects."
The real problems emerged when he tried to do anything beyond basic transactions. "FastSpring's affiliate system is quite expensive, and integrating WooCommerce with my plugins was very complicated. The WooCommerce account system also didn't work well with the plugins, despite having a custom PHP/JS page."
The time cost was concrete: "I previously spent something like one day a month just trying to find solutions to these problems, and Moonbase handles all of this perfectly."
The decision
Ben didn't run a formal evaluation. He couldn't find what he needed elsewhere. "Actually, I didn't. I couldn't find another option as complete as Moonbase." One platform to manage everything, from payment processing and affiliates to plugin licensing, serials, and redeem codes.
The migration
He decided to move. The migration was practical. "I handled it via the API. I downloaded all the orders from WooCommerce and used a script (using AI) to import everything." Three weeks from start to finish to have everything live with the new system.
Using the API directly meant he could preserve his complete order history and customer data in one move, rather than building workarounds or accepting data loss.
Implementation
Ben built a custom Vue.js storefront to display his products through Moonbase. He created a custom plugin to embed this storefront into his existing WordPress site. "I'm using a custom Vue.js storefront with one-time payment products. I made a custom plugin to insert it into my WordPress website, but I'm considering migrating it into a native Vue.js website."
For Raizes Player specifically, the customer flow works like this: users go to his product page, purchase the instruments they want, and they get assigned those instruments within the Raizes Player. "They download the player, log in to their account inside the plugin, and can then download/install all their purchased instruments." For his other products (effects and other instruments), customers just buy and install the plugin directly.
What changed
The obvious change is that everything works together now. Affiliates are built in. Redeem codes are built in. Serials are built in. Customer accounts are built in. That one day a month he spent troubleshooting and patching is gone.
But there's something less obvious: he's now operating from a position of potential. "Revenue hasn't increased yet, but the potential is enormous. It's really easy to scale with the right tools, affiliates, redeem codes, partners, etc., and it saves a lot of time because it handles everything for you."
Where they are now
Ben is focused on what he actually wanted to focus on all along: creating new instruments for Raizes Player. The tools for scaling are ready and waiting. Adding an affiliate partner, running a promotion with redeem codes, or connecting with distribution partners doesn't require building another integration. The ceiling on what he can do is no longer his ability to maintain infrastructure.
His summary: "Moonbase is the perfect platform for audio software. It saves a lot of time by handling everything you need to scale your brand."
