Nextmidi + Moonbase
In the end of 2023, Nextmidi was looking to upgrade their licensing solution in order to provide more self service for customers and cut costs in the process. Their ideal customer journey aligned very much with what Moonbase had to offer, and the bundled offering that Moonbase provides was hard to beat. Over the course of 2024, they switched to using Moonbase for payments as well, in order to streamline operations further.
Cost reduction
The initial goal of the move to Moonbase was to cut costs, particularly for licensing costs. Their old supplier had a very common pricing scheme, one that charges a flat fee per month based on your total number of licenses. By moving to Moonbase, where we charge a usage-based fee, we were able to reduce licensing costs for their whole fleet of installations by over 90%.
Simplifying accounting
Running a small business doesn't leave a lot of time for administrative work, and moving to Moonbase for payments simplified it all a whole lot more. Since Moonbase acts as the Merchant of Record for all sales, we handle all VAT globally reducing an enourmous amount of legal burdens. Additionally, we also simplify the accounting for Nextmidi since each sale won't have to be handled by them, they instead book only our payouts to them using our pre-generated payout invoices. This further decreases costs for accounting services and administration work, leaving more time for building business.
Customer loyalty matters
A core part of the Nextmidi brand is respect for its customers and a drive to reward their fanbase for staying loyal. During the summer of 2024, Nextmidi was able to launch their new product, Divisimate Micro, and using the targeted discounts that Moonbase offers, was able to launch it with a discount for every customer who already owns the regular Divisimate product. This discount helped drive over 30% of their sales, and cultivate their customer fanbase in the process.
Similarly, in the fall of 2024, they launched Divisimate 2, a significant upgrade over their previous products. Also during this launch, they were able to activate a large portion of their existing customer base, with complex upgrade pricing depending on which products each customer owns from before.
